SideBar:
Despite the number of young and good-looking people flocking to the neighborhood, Union Square still suffers from a shortage of places to go after yoga/Greenmarketing/holistic dance classes. With seven flat-screen TVs, a dance floor, and two private rooms, SideBar is well equipped to handle this crisis in style. The persnickety menu at this upscale sports bar—foie gras devilled eggs, grilled sirloin steak sandwiches, goat-cheese stuffed lamb burger—indicates that owners Mike Sinensky and Sean McGarr (of the Village Pourhouse) are trying to pole vault into the league of Gramercy Tavern, not Pete’s. If this strategy falls short, at least they know a little something about location—Village Pourhouse lives across from dance/rock venue Webster Hall and benefits greatly from its post-concert crowds. Similarly, SideBar’s placement next to the equally-popular Fillmore at Irving Plaza is sure to attract concertgoers eager to pre- and post-game it. Let’s just hope its position on Irving Place, not Park Avenue South, keeps it from turning into the next Union Square meathead central.
I went to SideBar last night with 3 other friends to watch the Yankees game. And everything was good. The drinks came fast, as did the food. The food was fine, not superb, but it is a sports bar afterall. All the TVs had the sound on and all of them were showing the game. And there were plenty of TVs. HOWEVER, when the bill came, there were a TON of mistakes. I handed the bill back to our waitress and told her she gave me someone else's tab. She said that, no, this was indeed our bill. There were 2 food items on the bill that we never ordered as well as several drinks. I had two conversations with her and two conversations with the manager. They took a few of the incorrect items off the bill but refused to take off the others. The manager then proceeded to insult me, tell me that I looked drunk and called me a liar! (P.S. I had 2.5 glasses of wine...not drunk!) It was pretty terrible. So...my advice is: If you go to SideBar, keep track of what you order and check your bill!

This 'sports bar' is as classy as sports bars get. With a sleak design and some of the best food ever consumed while watching a game, this place will spoil you. With flat screens for his enjoyment and a bangin DJ for her enjoyment, where else would you really go? Bring your group of friends, it's something for everyone!

I love this place and come as much as possible. Great bartenders that know how to handle a crowd and a good looking bunch of people that knows how to party.
