Silver Lining:
There’s no need to search for a Silver Lining at this subterranean speakeasy—just descend the cozy stairwell in this 150 year-old historic Tribeca townhouse, and you’ll already be on cloud nine. Come to think of it, the glowing, white cast-iron façade (designed by James Bogardus in—ready?—1868) does look rather cumulus, and the white tablecloths and soft glowing light within provide just the cottony venue for absolute relaxation. Throw in the addition of perfectly executed classic cocktails from mixologists of Little Branch fame ($14-$16) and a small menu of eclectic tapas-style fare ($4-$27), and you’ve got all the provisions needed to settle in and enjoy an extended evening of live jazz (offered nightly). With sound-absorbing ceiling panels throughout, the din of friendly patrons chatting at the bar never overpowers the whispering of lovers in the main seating area…so you can rest easy speaking as loudly as you’d like.
