Silverleaf Tavern: Touting its new Wednesday night prix-fixe as "70s Italian," Silverleaf Tavern lets the theme runneth over onto its décor. Meatball-topped spaghetti, mushroom risotto and espresso-laden ice cream are a few of the choice dishes, complemented by art deco mantles and booths that make you want to pull out Twister. But while some elements may be a bit too literal, others seem downright out-of-place. The heavy wooden table for 10, decorated with throne-like chairs and topped with medieval light fixtures, makes you wonder if this tavern serves up draft beer or butterbeer a la Hogwarts. Neverthless, for a fairly barren locale happy-hour wise, Silverleaf's small but inviting bar delivers the big games as well as relatively cheap bar fare—well drinks are $5, margaritas $6 and appetizers, albeit tiny, are as low as $2 (try the porcini popcorn). While the prices jack up considerably post-happy hour, that's what you get for still being in Midtown after 7pm.
