Socarrat Paella Bar:
The third location in the Spanish chain generally remains the same as its predecessors but with one welcome addition: space. The two older joints (in Nolita and Chelsea) are noted for their communal table(s) and cramped quarters, but not so at this location, which again centers its menu around the eponymous dish of paella (and even has some outdoor seating!). That identical dinner menu is still highlighted by the priced-per-person paellas ($22-$24) though it’s supplemented with a large tapas menu including gazpacho ($7), grilled squid ($10) and a variety of quesos ($12-$16). The drinking menu offers a bountiful selection of wines from all over Spain, as well as pitchers of sangria if you like a little fruta with your wine ($35). A neighborhood favorite enters another neighborhood...muchas gracias!
