Socarrat Paella Bar - NoLita:
Feeling…lonely? NoLita’s edition of Socarrat Paella Bar is the spot for you. The huge, communal table (yes, singular...plus it's situated by the street and prime for people watching) with small, shared tapas plates will make everyone feel welcome, while the dark, mysterious lighting and pitchers of sangria ($35) ensure you’ll make a friend…or five. Munch on the aforementioned smaller stuff like fried artichokes ($9) if you’re alone, or hit the bowl of paella ($25/per person) with a group—anything from seafood to veggie—for the real Socarrat experience. Sure, the paella price is a leeettle steep, but the portion size plus the amazing smell and taste are well worth your many pennies. It might not be the best place for a private dining experience, but for good wine and tasty Spanish tapas, scope it out solo or take your longtime s.o.
