Sol
You can’t throw a Jimmy Choo stiletto in West Chelsea without hitting a club, and Sol, the former Ruby Falls, is following the party line. A line of guys—who’ll have to buy a bottle (or two) to get inside—marks the entrance, while inside, two back-to-back bars and banquette-lined walls are clustered with 20-somethings and a few old guys who somehow slipped in. An elevated second area with high, warehouse-like ceilings boasts a roped-off VIP section, another bar, and more private tables, which are more often than not bumped into by wayward dancers (some of whom look like they’re auditioning for the next “Growing Up Gotti”). With a fun mix of retro and Top 40 mash-ups (think “Staying Alive” versions from both Wyclef and the Bee Gees), you can’t really fault them for getting their groove on...but you can fault them for wearing that much cologne.

the worst experience of my life. I've never been so embarrassed and manipulated before ever. it all turns out to be twisted advertising and false promises. Was supposed to be on guestlists and promised open bars, champaign etc etc --never happened and were rude jerks trying to figure it out. SOL = arrogant, power tripped, rude people. It was very obviously my birthday -- I wasnt even asking for free drinks or amazing service but that didnt happen. I tipped better than imaginable and some bartenders were plain rude, nasty and no help while we were lucky that few bartenders showed some decency, respect and concern. Also, some bitch ass prissy boy came up to me and my friend while we were sitting down on the couch having a conversation and pushed him. It was literally out of the blue and unprovoked yet the bouncers felt the need to come up to us and tell my friend to put his hands behind his back and physically kick us out the place. By this point it was already 1:15 am and we the first people in the place since 10:45 - you'd think they'd appreciate that we'd been there all night and relax when even the girls of the group went up to the bouncers asking what the problem was they forcefully pushed 2 of us away basically saying that we had no say in the issue and that women are inferior to men. Another bouncer also proceeded to put his hand on my friends face and push her head away from them. This was harrassment on all levels to all people in this scenario because we had nor caused any problems in the first place. There was no reason to be kicking us out. Additionally, the only remedy the bouncers tried mediating was that both parties of the "fight", as in my friend who got pushed and the guy who started the fight were all getting kicked out yet after my friends left -- there was not one single person who was also being asked to leave. As we were leaving, the doorman knew the situation and understood how emotional everyone was now becoming, and like always, these doormen know how to treat people. Because to add insult to injury I have never been spoken to with such immense disrespect like I was last night from Sol's entire staff. Im ashamed to have had my name associated with Sol. NEVER EVER GO THERE. IT WAS THE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE.

we went for a friend's birthday party and they didn't even know they had a party booked. it was over priced, the bartenders were jerks, one of the security guards pretended to be the manager and told me checking my coat was mandatory (which was also rip off). I go out a lot and this was by far THE worst place I've ever been. if you want to be treated like you're not a prisoner, do NOT go here.
