Spritzenhaus: If there is one thing North Brooklyn ladies and gents of leisure just cannot have too much of, it's frothy mugs of brew and wide, open spaces to drink them in. Backing up this theory with overwhelming evidence is Spitzenhaus, Greenpoint's newest addition to the beer-garden genre. Despite the neighborhood’s over-saturated market, this gorgeous open-air brew house is thoroughly packing ‘em in its monstrous space. And while its neighbor and communal beer-drinking predecessor, Berry Park, is starting to resemble Hoboken on St. Paddy's Day, the crowd around the corner so far reflects the ever-evolving hood. Growing-up hipsters, many who have recently swapped skinny jeans for mom jeans and art apprenticeships with regular paychecks, pile onto long metal tables (some with kids in tow) for an afternoon pale-ale gang-bang. For now, you’ll have to call a stout “lunch” as the ginormous open kitchen presently stands unused, but a full menu to include wood-burning pizza is coming soon. While a full bar is available alongside the suds, we’re not sure who is ballsy enough to order a G&T with 100 taps staring back at them.
