Sweet Revenge: Aptly named after owner Marlo Scott’s strike back at corporate America, “Sweet Revenge” is a dish served in the form of a pristine cupcake and paired with a glass of wine, beer, or cocktail. The story goes (a little similar to the film Julie & Julia): Marlo did her time in a corporate salt mine; Marlo was fired; Marlo mourned, like every girl, over a nice chardonnay and sweets. Realizing she was not alone, she found a charming store-front hidden among the winding roads in the West Village, for to share her recipe for revenge with everyone. Thus, unlike, ahem, other neighborhood cupcake shops, Sweet Revenge welcomes you to linger with friends at cozy tables and an inviting bar. But just because the place has a liquor license, don’t expect a party (except the occasional pity party). Instead, you'll find corporate women in yoga pants enjoying their weekly treat. But hey, for those still answering to The Man, a post-work happy hour hits the spot, with selected drinks for $5 and a pairing with a cupcake for $10. Just desserts, as it were. |
