Tartinery:
A tree grows in…Nolita? This bistro is recognized by the live tree growing in the lower level—that, and the French eye candy that’s always milling about (oh là là!). Tartinery is touted as a modern version of the traditional French bistro whose real roots happen to be grounded in the Tartine; a classic open faced sandwich. Standouts on the menu include the Saint Marcellin, which is zee epitome of French cuisine, and the in-house Foie Gras made with fig jam. You’ll find expats sipping wine, likely because one of the owners has his own winery in France (rough life, eh?) and makes a fabulous Rose that’s used for their signature pink sangria. Très bien, mon amis.
