Tavern 29 is everything you love about a bar rolled into one. This three-floor mega drink haven combines all things typically New York under one massive, dark-wooded roof. The first floor is an intimate bar area with massive sparkling chandeliers hanging above, but don't let the swanky appearance fool you. With reasonably priced drinks ($7-$10 for a beer) and a menu that goes way beyond basic bar food (ex: fried green tomatoes with spicy chorizo hash, $10), the very attractive waitstaff is not the only reason you’ll be dying to come back. Make your way up to the second floor for a more relaxed resto-style area that can easily cater to stay-at-home moms and corporate stiffs alike. Take one more trip upstairs to encounter a full-fledged rooftop. The roof of Tavern 29 is covered with long picnic-style tables and a sausage-heavy menu that will please even the pickiest of diners. If you’re looking for the college-aged, biergarten-loving crowd, this is where you’ll find 'em. In a neighborhood that can sometimes feel a little overpriced, Tavern 29 is a much-welcomed break from the norm.
