Ten Bells:
Hunt down your newest victim—er, date—at this Lower East Side/Chinatown organic wine bar. Despite the fact that it’s named after the London pub where ladykiller Jack the Ripper chose his victims, Ten Bells isn’t at all creepy. The dark, tin-covered space feels like a secret hideaway for a trendy (but not offensively so) crowd. Menu choices such as a range of tartars, ceviches, cheese, and charcuterie are written neatly on a chalkboard on the wall, and 50 earth-friendly wines are available by the bottle. Charm your latest catch here, but don’t be surprised if he develops a wandering eye—this romantic nook is already luring a number of Southern Manhattan belles.
So I was immediately poured a glass of Gruner once I confessed I was a white wine drinker, but after some lamb proscuitto, I was durned on to some dusky reds. Great place, trust the experts, relax and enjoy the ride.

This is a nice wine bar, it really is; the problem is the wine. it's wretched. 4 of us tried 4 different wines and all of them tasted like my grandmother's ass. It's a shame as I really liked the place and the owner.

amazing wines. they are all organic and the waiters love them. I dropped in one night on a low key wine tasting. The vintor was there from france leading a taste with several chiefs from around the city. We were offered a glass and thus began a magical night.
