Tenjune: Despite the parade of spiky-haired frat boys rolling past in rented convertibles, this small, dim club still has one of the toughest doors in the city. Mark Birnbaum of Aer and Eugene Remm, who handled Level V’s party-throwing duties, have cooked up one of the MPD’s most popular—and therefore most unbearable—hot spots, and it still simmers after two years. The room itself is long, sleekly designed, and crowded with tables lining the walls. A miniscule bar area provides a good excuse to splurge on bottle service, which in all likelihood, is your only way in, unless you do as Wall Street does—get dinner at STK upstairs first then arrive via elevator. The crowd skews young, which means celeb DJs playing fast and furious mixes of rock, hip-hop, and whatever else models can dance to at—or atop—their tables. Pick your night carefully, because you might see Kanye kicking back here, or you might be surrounded by cookie-cutter, barely-legal club kids. |
