Terrace in the Sky: “Old school” describes Terrace well, with its décor of red roses, white columns and candelabra. On the 16th floor of a Columbia residence, with a spectacular skyline view, it’s a popular party venue. And prepare to splurge: To start off, the waiter offers sparkling water, which you’ll later find cost you $9. But if you’re the kind of person who finds that normal, read on. Terrace offers a French menu with a twist—entrees (about $40) include the traditional veal, lamb and steak, with a couple vegetarian offerings. The house boasts 400+ wines—give them a holler if you’d like your wine chilled, opened or decanted ahead of time. And if you enjoy a good fireplace chat, an after-dinner nook with couches and a fireplace awaits, where you can relax and listen to the resident harp player. Some brandy? Scotch? Perhaps a Wall Street Journal? You get the idea. Open Tue.-Thu. 5:30-10pm, Fri. noon-2:30pm and 5:30-10pm, Sat. 5:30-10pm, Sun. 11am-3pm.
