Terroir TriBeCa:
Downtown twenty-somethings are flocking to TriBeCa’s Terroir in order to experience East Village hip in the comfort of their own hood. Marco Canora and Paul Grieco’s second wine joint jokes about connoisseur culture with self-glorification (“the Elitist wine bar for EVERYONE”) and with ironic anecdotes (a 45-page menu with a nearly five-page spread discussing soccer). The menu has been expanded to fit the larger space, but the bigger is better concept has quashed some of the charm ever-present in the East Village locale. To the point, they now serve Riesling on tap, another large step towards turning TriBeCa into the next Upper West Side. While most sips are offered by the half glass, glass and bottle, be warned that the only Bordeaux on the menu is priced at over $250. Of course if you bothered to travel to the remote triangle below Canal for a glass of vin, chances are you won’t be terroirized by the high prices.
