The Beagle: When you head inside this classic cocktail bar, don't be thrown by the name—The Beagle isn't dog friendly. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself with man's other best friend: booze. The cocktail menu is divided into three sections—rocks (hand-cut ice, of course), up and highball (barrel-aged cocktails to come)—and features unique ingredients like Yellow Chartruese, Swedish Punsch and Anis del Mono (don’t ask us). Try their specialty, The Golden Dog (Talisker 10-year Scotch, Lillet, Benedictine Apricot Liqueur and Angostura Bitters—all cocktails, $12), just don’t slurp it. Then figure out how to impress your date by checking out the blue walls, lined with framed pages from a turn-of-the-century book on etiquette. Maybe it will be with an order of homemade dates (paprika, honey and prosciutto, $6) followed by an entree like the milk-braised pork shoulder with broccolini and apricots ($24). So long as you follow the instructions, your night at The Beagle is sure to charm.
