The Boom Boom Room @ The Standard Hotel: 

Credit where credit is due—this room is definitely booming. Of course, unless you are one of the lucky few on Andre Balaz's list, you won't be able to see it in all of its glory. What you will be able to do, is enter the space before 10pm and drink in all the Cali décor and celeb-spotting we New Yorker's can't bring ourselves to admit we crave. Who doesn't want to boogie-woogie to Peter, Bjorn and John on the golden-sparkling carpet while "casually" bumping into paparazzi’s favorite targets (Mary-Kate, Chloe Sevigny, etc.)? Yeah, the cocktails are obviously overpriced ($18 and up), but as they're poured from behind a beautiful dark wooden bar and brought to your intimate table, you may ask yourself: How much is too much to pay for a Jude Law sighting? If you are less into the L.A. aesthetic—and more into, oh, vertigo—step outside onto the glass-floored terrace, and look 18 stories down to the ground. Now figure out a way to hide in the bathroom until Madonna arrives.
