The Breslin @ The Ace Hotel: Hidden in a small nook off of the Ace Hotel’s lobby, The Breslin supplies you former Jane Hotel Ballroom-types with a dark watering hole to find some grub. The Breslin’s menu has been assembled by April Bloomfiled (of The Spotted Pig) to bring some British “cuisine” to the table, e.g., terrine boards featuring guinea hen with morels, rustic pork, rabbit and prunes, or head cheese served with pickles, piccalilli and mustard. Yeah, you read that right, and yeah, neither the menu nor the décor is for the faint of heart. Even the meat lover may have a problem swallowing his or her stuffed pig’s foot while viewing the taxidermy on display. But if you can power through, you're in for a treat--the lamb burger $17, is certainly one of the city's best. The first floor is split between a front bar with a large communal standing table (always packed after work). The back dining area is cramped with dimly lit tables sharing a long leather booth, while the smaller bar and detached tables allow one to grab a “cask” ale without bumping elbows too badly.
