The Burger Guru: In an era of false authority where everyone is an “expert” or “aficionado” or, ahem, “guru,” The Burger Guru might be one of the rare know-it-alls with actual legitimacy. Offering more than your standard ground beef ($8.50 for the Classic), the Greek-inspired, Brooklyn-based Guru has patty options ranging from the semi-strange (bison, +$1.50) to the stranger (lamb and antelope, both +$1.25) to the flat-out exotic (rotating choices include kangaroo and gator, $MP). There are veggie-friendly options, too, like the garden-fresh Sunshine Burger ($10.50), and a surprising amount of brunch-all-day offerings (salmon eggs benedict, $12.95). There’s no Ouzo, but you can get your fill of vino by the glass ($7-$11) or bottle ($19-$33) or choose from a variety of upscale coffee drinks like the Greek ice frappe ($3.50). Either will keep your whistle wet as you while away the day in the backyard garden, stuffing your face with animals topped with animals (bison sausage, +3.75 or applewood bacon, $2.75) placed between two buns.
