The Campbell Terrace: Located just outside of The Campbell Apartment at Grand Central Terminal, the Terrace provides a more casual atmosphere (and more lenient entry) than its holier-than-thou brother. You’ll still get the 1920s vibe from the waitresses (donned in all-black and pearls), and don’t expect a cheaper drink just ‘cause you weren’t hassled at the door. Cocktails run $13-$17, which isn’t too bad for the area when you consider the serving size: about double your average libation. The Prohibition Punch ($18) is aptly named, packing a real punch with rum, orange brandy liqueur, champagne and passion fruit juice, but if you want to live more in the moment than back in the day, try a refreshing Polo Match (bourbon, muddled cucumber, vanilla syrup and fresh lime, $14). Quick pre- or post-commute bite options include roast beef sliders ($16) and cheesecake slices ($10). Basically, this haunt has all the best attributes of the Apartment, plus friendlier patrons, more laid-back fare and a door policy that won’t make you want to hop on the Metro-North and get outta town.
