The Cellar at Beecher's Handmade Cheese:
Calling all lactose lovers—a branch of Seattle’s famed cheese store/factory/restaurant is now in our very own Flatiron District! Buy your goods on the main level of Beecher’s Handmade Cheese by day, but flaunt your goodies down in The Cellar by night. Here, an animated crowd sits on chairs upholstered with animal hair under cheeky cartoon artwork while drinking $13 cocktails named after other lively folks—Henry Ward Beecher (cachaca, jalapeno and lime) was “a clergyman to the masses but spicy with the married ladies,” and Daniel Burnam (cilantro margarita, tequila and watermelon) was the Flatiron Building’s architect. Dishes like gazpacho ($6) and short ribs ($22) are available, so lactards needn’t keep their distance—unless, of course, they can’t resist the five varieties of Mac & Cheese ($13-19). Then again, the $7 price tag on the “World’s Best” at happy hour might be worth the repercussions.
