The Delta Grill:
The French Quarter meets Hell’s Kitchen at the unassuming Delta Grill. The joint has a timeless, down-home feel—faded wood plank floors creak as you walk through to admire the aging New Orleans bar signs. A pressed tin ceiling is home to antique ceiling fans and strings of Mardi Gras lights that hang over the zinc-topped bar, hosting a daily 5pm-8pm happy hour. More adventurous drinkers might try a Cajun martini garnished with a jalapeno. Food at Delta doesn’t stray from the Big Easy concept either—Chef Gret Tatis, who cooked with the original Cajun superchef Paul Prudhomme, serves up Creole and Cajun favorites. Portions of jambalaya, fried chicken, crawfish etouffee, and chunky gumbo served in a cast-iron bowl are as big as Emeril’s bank account, with the Bam! flavor to match. You might want to skip the spicy blackened catfish if you are sitting by the fireplace—pair that with the live jazz on Friday and Saturday and things could start getting a bit hot in herrre.
