The Gates:
Another day, another "secret" bar. This exclusive Chelsea haunt, making its debut during the annual Tribeca Film Festival celebrations, offers an ambassador program in which keys are offered to 125 members of the "New York City elite," who then have the opportunity to add five to 10 "members." These members, in turn, are able to invite guests. Talk about getting the run-around. Members will tote gold swipe cards that will let them generate charity donations or earn back money -- so they can be elitist and thrifty as they swill their $16 cocktails. But if you manage to make it in, order the bacon and oyster Hushpuppies off the "simple" menu, and you too can live like a blue-blood.
$25 to get in? Seriously? And the Music was terrible, the vibe wasnt there and the bouncers were rude! WOuld not recommend this place to anybody. Go to D'or, or to WH, but not here.. we were there for the grand opening and were on a gueslist and it just wasnt what we expected.

This was by far one of the worst lounge/club experiences I have ever had in New York City.
I went for a party this past Saturday. My friend had spoke with the owner and confirmed that there would be no line or problem getting in as long as we were there early enough. We showed up b/w 11/1130 (majority women), and yet they still refused to let 3 people in the door from our group (all men) insisting that there were not enough women in the place. We were a group of about 80-100 people, 65% of which were women, and there weren't enough women in the place to let 3 guys in?! Seriously?! Not to mention it seemed that when the bouncers were asked in a respectful manner when they would be let in, we were answered rudely as they continued to let others in (men and women) in front of our friends. They were clearly trying to make an example of these guys, and eventually only let them in after charging them!
Not only were the bouncers rude, but so was the manager/bartenders/coat check guy, you name it. Once inside we were instructed by a manager that we HAD to check out coats ($3 charge). We did so, but upon leaving at the end of the night my gf was given the WRONG coat. When she went down to tell the coat check guy, he dismissed her rudely telling her she had to find a manager to deal with the issue. Her coat was found 20 min later, after a long an drawn out process.
Finally, drinks in this place were ridiculously priced. $16 for a vodka w/soda and $9 for a beer! The first beer I ordered, a Stella, was even skunked!
I will never go back to this place, and I don't recommend you do either.

I walked in the Gates and I was immediately blown away with the attention to detail the place had. The crowd was beautiful and the music was amazing.
