The Harrison:
Rather than going for TriBeCa cool and distinction, this restaurant gives off a whiff of stodgy country club refinement. Much to its credit is the big outdoor corner where cool air often blows in from the Hudson, adding a little yacht club vibe to the al fresco seating. Inside it’s all white linens and soft lighting. The male staff wears striped button-downs, blue ties, and white aprons. The crowd generally consists of 20-somethings who live in the area or work in the nearby Financial District. At around $20-$25, the small but flawless menu, which includes a peeky toe crab appetizer and sautéed skate, veers toward the expensive side. The drinks are strong and the whiskey concoctions recommended. There isn’t a lot of soul in the bar scene, but the dining is rather civilized.
