The Leopard at des Artistes:
Oh, to be rich! To live in a world where menus needn’t display prices, but only explanations of the ritzy art on a restaurant's walls. Live such a life (at least for a meal) at this new spot where most of the uber-expensive menu isn’t visibly priced, but the main courses that are run in the $30 to $40 range (a savvy diner should be able to extrapolate). Within this pleasant Italian “clubhouse,” you’ll find walls covered in nude murals, people that look like celebrities (“Hey, it’s that guy from...what is that guy from?!”), and an environment that’s sleek but not too hip. The Sardinian and Sicilian food is rustic and simple—risottos ($MP), lamb loins ($46) and a rib eye for two ($90) are typical. A prestigious wine list has glasses as low as $12 and bottles as high as $2400 and a small cocktail list is highlighted by the Limoncello-based Neapolitan Martini ($15). The Leopard is quite the place to be rich for a day...but only if you’ve tricked your visiting parents into footing the bill.
