The Living Room:
The Living Room is a cool alternative and fantastic counterpart to its noisier neighbor, Pianos. Whereas Pianos rocks, The Living Room sways. Most of the acts that grace the small stage in the back of this long room are of the acoustic singer/songwriter variety. This place gained its notoriety from its original locale that was just around the corner and half the size of this bi-level, shabby-chic cash-only joint. The bar in front is neighborly, even showing baseball games on TVs over the bar. Through a velvet curtain is a back room of wooden chairs and little tables, not to mention nightly live bands. Rather than a cover, this space generally imposes a one-drink minimum per set and the standard passed bucket o’ tips. The minimalist lounge upstairs offers a piano and privacy, and little else.
The Living Room has a PHOTO BOOTH! I mean it’s already a cool venue with a great bar with good music, but the fact that they have a photo booth is just the cherry on top. You can step on in with a couple of friends, and get yourself a souvenir snap shot to commemorate the night. They have both black and white AND color. They also have tasty margaritas & a super hot bartender ;).

Great Place For Live Music
Everyone is so nice and it's really quaint but not too small, just the right size. It's a great place to come listen to live music or even to just grab a beer and chat with the bartenders. They have a photo booth! I recommend coming for Happy Hour from 4-8 for sure. Only $3 beers! That's not an easy find in NYC. Keep this one in your pockets kids, it's a great find!

Awesome AWESOME spot
t's tough paying rent in this city, but what makes it easier is finding places like The Living Room where there is free live music most nights. After dealing with the most ridiculous people all day, I don't need a place where everyone has to yell just to hear each other over the TV, or the music, or other people. It's so casual, and the staff is so nice, I sometimes forget I am still in NY. They also have cheap drinks. I can get a buzz in this place for less than $10. Well, during Happy Hour anyway.

Great Place!!
Before going to The Living Room, I was never a fan of acoustic music. Now I always find myself looking for more singer/songwriter music. I love their nightly line up. I’m going to become a regular here, I'm sure. It's one of the hidden gems of the LES.

Great Sound
It's really difficult to find a club with a good sound. I have to say that The Living Room is the best place I've ever been. You can actually hear the music without it being too loud. And there's no cover charge?? I spent my money on drinks and a bunch of photos from their photobooth. One of the best places to hang, for sure.

Relief
It's nice to know that there are still venues around that don’t blast your face off with the headliner.

Great Drinks, Great Music
What is great about the Living Room is that it has a lot of stellar shows going on even on weeknights. No matter where you are in the room, you can hear the music clearly. Ive been to a lot of venues where the sound is terrible and you cant even hear what the musicians are playing, but the Living Rooms sound system is sweet. Also there are comfy couches to sit on!

guaranteed good time!
The Living Room is a guaranteed good time on any night out in NYC! It’s got two bars, two stages and there’s always a good band playing! The thing I love about The Living Room is that you don’t necessarily need to be a hardcore music fan to come here; the inviting atmosphere allows for an interesting mix of young professionals, too-cool-for-school hipsters, and older die-hard musicians. You can stay at the bar and take advantage of the funky décor and great drink specials, or you can head to the back and partake in an intimate musical experience!

Fantastic music
I took my girlfriend to the Living Room last night and she finally believes me when I say there are some great local bands out there! The volume was great for her too. She has sensitive ears and she never complained once about the loudness. I think she’s already making plans to go again!

The Living Room is GREAT!!
I’m so tired of going to concerts and dealing with a mosh of people with stuffy hot air and bad music. I’ve been to The Living Room countless times and I can honestly say that isn’t the case here. It’s a cool, comfortable environment with plenty of area to hangout. It’s quite intimate at the performances since the stage and table/chairs are both ground level..so you feel one-on-one with the musician if you’re towards the front. They have bands playing every night of the week, and I have never been disappointed with any act I’ve seen. Definitely excited for this weekend - I’m going with my best friend here to hangout and listen to the awesome music!

Such a chill venue!!
First off, I just love that neighborhood. Great bars and venues all down the block. But for me, The Living Room is my fave. There's just this great warm feel you get from the place. Sure the music is great, but it's the atmosphere of the place that sells it for me.

A great place to relax and hear some top quality music. Not too overbearing, there is only a one drink minimum to see the musicians. The atmosphere alone is worth the drink. A unique spot with a great feel.

If you haven't been to the Living Room before, definitely check it out. They get some really great artists to play and the staff is very nice. There is rarely a cover charge and they have a good selection of drinks. What else can I say, see and hear it for yourself!

The name Living Room is a beautiful, cozy bar and venue that is constantly showcasing new artists, The bands, and solo musicians, are all great, and despite the occaisonal ticketed show, there is no cover charge. There is a one drink minimum, but the prices are affordable so this is not an issue, and at a place like this you're going to want a drink to complete the experience.

Fantastic place! I've been here several times and have had uniformly great experiences each time. The music, from mostly undiscovered local talent, is always good and the drink prices are what you'd expect from a LES spot. If you are into mostly acoustic, singer-songwriter sort of fare, you should definitely check this place out. Also, almost all of the shows are free (I've only paid one cover so far), but they ask you to buy at least a drink while you're there, which you were gonna do anyway! Definitely hit this spot up.

One more reason to come to the Lower East Side. This place has new bands/artists coming through every night of the week, some of which make it big (think Norah Jones). Bottom line, there's always good music playing. Check it out.

The Living Room is one of my favorite music venues in New York; the shows are great, and usually don't have cover charges! So this place won't put a dent in your wallet; the drinks are also reasonable. The atmosphere is great, relaxed and fun, so it's a perfect place for listening to music and for socializing. Definitely a must-see place!
