Forget your tiny living room with the free furniture you got off Craigslist—the ultra-swanky Living Room Bar in the W Downtown will revolutionize the way you think about your den. You’ll feel tipsy just stepping onto the black granite floors reflecting the dizzying roller coaster-style lighting above. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, considering their signature cocktails are in the $13-$16 range and it’ll take a few to get your buzz on. Price to drunk ratio aside, we’re pretty sure you can’t whip up stand-outs like the Brooklyn Bridge (rye whiskey with Solerno blood orange liqueur, lemon, orange and bitters) or the Five Points (Pisco with muddled pineapple, agave nectar, fresh lime and wild arugula) from the random bottles of hooch you have lying around your apartment. Wines are more democratic, starting at only $7 a glass and you are welcome to enjoy it on their svelte sofas without fear of dry-cleaning bills. In summer months, you’ll want to sneak out onto their terrace with some “nibbles” from BLT Bar downstairs. The spot’s not for the weak of wallet, but it’s a nice change from your couch and a bottle of two-buck-chuck.
