The Local 269:
A dreary exterior and grungy interior gives this LES watering hole the feel that it’s been there forever… Even though it’s been open for only a few months. Looking beyond some of its *ahem* questionable décor choices, it’s hard to find faults in a place that has a cheap, economy-friendly 2-for-1 happy hour. In the early evening hours, there’s not much of a crowd, but later on, those seeking to quench their thirst will pop by on their trip home, making for an eclectic and wide-ranging crowd. The staff here is fun, the food’s typical bar grub and there’s a small stage that suggests there might be future musical acts. It’s worth stopping by – bars that do the simple things this well are few and far between in NYC.
