The Norry @ Kampuchea: You may recognize Kampuchea as the Southeast Asian gem on the Lower East Side, and, flush with that success, chef-owner Ratha Chau has renovated and expanded into an adjacent bar space. The result is The Norry, and though it's named after a bamboo street car, don't expect something rustic. Instead, think part downtown hipster joint, part Asian street pub, and about zero-parts bamboo street car. Still, if you're the sort that goes for the Cure and Radiohead with your Cambodian-themed drinking and dining experience, you just struck gold. The tiled ceiling, clouded mirrors, candles and pop art make this place extremely date-worthy, despite the communal tables. Their unique, robust cocktails—including something called the Phnom Penh Hot Punch—run up to $14, but are made with top shelf liquors and mixed perfectly. Snackers are encouraged to arrive between 5:30 and 7:30 for a Nonpang sandwich (oxtail, shrimp, or catfish, $10-13), which can be paired with a draught beer for just an extra $3. Phnom-enal.
