The Parlour:
The Parlour is very much in the style of the Irish pub/restaurants on the East Side that cater more to corpo-rate types. In other words, it’s a wee bit overpriced. Pints run almost $6; the typical shepherd’s pie, burgers, and fish and chips fare is fine but hardly stand out; and unless there’s a crowd, the place can feel vacant. There’s a downstairs bar for private parties and the occasional spastic fit of dancing to whatever embarrassing ’80s nostalgia song fills the air. Karaoke and live bands have become frequent happenings, as well. Unless you’re a Celtic soccer fan (and you might be), this is essentially a place for well-off ex-sorority girls and the sharks in business casual who love them.
Dear critic, I think your poor judgemet is bias, clearly you didnt enjoy your meal or company you were with. However i have a totally different view, let me share some, I am an islander, 28yrs old. the first time i walked in, the staff was so welcoming and down to earth, after drinking in other bars/res on the upper west side i found the parlour one of the most affordable i can drink a cosmo for $7.50 (wow) most places sell them for $10.00. omg you should try the chicken quesadilla, nacho and blackbeans, grilled shrimp, french fries and curry sauce, sauteed mushrooms in puff pastry,oh an my personal favorite is grilled pork chops.
