The Ravel Rooftop Bar & Lounge @ the Ravel Hotel
We get it: You're here for the view. The newly re-christened rooftop lounge at the Ravel Hotel gets it too. First off, Penthouse 808 is now enclosed with a huge sliding glass retractable roof, (made by the same folks who did the lid at the Empire Hotel), so you can get your vista on year round. Also, it's now a restaurant...and at first glance, an unexpectedly formal-looking one. Think white tablecloths and wine glasses and the vague notion that you should've brought your prom date. But grab a window seat and a Soho (Hendrick's gin, crushed lychee, cucumber, $12), lower your resistance to lite-techno and you'll be glad you made the trip. Yep, Manhattan views and drinks with Manhattan names...this place would hop the river if it somehow could.  As for the food—a multi-culti mishmash featuring flatbread creations and some tasty sushi ($9-$12)—means weekday curiosity seekers and the German tourists from downstairs might not mind grabbing a snack and staying a while.  Hey, we've suffered through a breakfast at the Space Needle. We appreciate the effort.

We were humiliated

We were invited to a family b'day this saturday night (oct 15). The bouncer made us wait in line for more than 10 min in the cold and when we realised other people after us were let in first we asked him why we are still waiting and he said "I'm telling you to wait". He was very nasty and in a very bad mood. We called our host to come out and help us and the bouncer told him "they won't get in. Period". He decided who enters and who don't and he didn't volunteered any explanation. Literally he kicked us out of the place and our host couldn't do anything rather than wait till Monday to complain to the management. We were never treated so bad for no reason. Much more people were in the same situation.

You really should not judge an establishment simply because it is accross the Street from the projects. What does that have to do with what the establishment has to offer??

It's people like you that give any establishment a bad name. If people were smoking weed in the place, then Ravel needs to get everything bad coming to them. Because, that a big turn off for many people like myself. But it's As#holes like you, that make stupid comments about being next to NYC housing; that makes it bad for everyone. I guess you make dumb remarks and racist comments without out thinks first. I really beleive your the real loser in life, get a job, find a girlfriend or boyfriend and go F### yourself.

Pretentious staff the crowd can be kind of trashy. People were smoking weed when we were there. The place is across the street from the projects. That doesn't really bother me but it may bother some. The place has a nice decor but the location is not that good because there are no other options in the area (unless you want to check out one of the local strip clubs).
