The Sunburnt Calf: Congratulations are in order! The Sunburnt Cow, the infamous Aussie brunch spot, has birthed a lil’ one! The Sunburnt Calf arrived April 27, 2010 and came in at two levels and 3,000 square feet. This UWS newbie features the same crowd as its mum (just swap the tats for cargo shorts and polo shirts), all sucking at the same $7 Moo Juice cocktails from a baby bottle. Sure, it sounds innocent enough (and a bit naughty at the same time), but after a few of the Dirty Mother’s (made with Kahlua, tequila and milk) or a Dirty F***ing Mother (add Cointreau for good measure), you might be calling for your own mother. Pre-game in their upstairs lounge just begging for a kegger (yeah we said it), with old school video games, a pool table and DJ booth to keep the good times rolling. The TGIFriday’s-style menu specials are generous, but a tad overwhelming, with Counter Meals, Endless Brunches, All-You-Can-Drink Ladies Specials...yadda yadda yadda. Stick with the $18 all-you-can-drink brunch as the options go beyond the mimosa and Bloody Mary (though they’re both available). Get the burger with unlimited Foster's (you know, the Australian for beer, that’s not really Australian for beer) and drink yourself under the table at this bar down under…er, upper. |
