The Tangled Vine:
The Upper West Side is no longer the red-headed stepchild for eating and drinking digs, thanks to chic locales like The Tangled Vine. Oenophiles and Food Inc. bandwagoners have their hearts all aflutter as this Mediterranean wine bar is almost entirely organic, biodynamic, and sustainable. Not feeling guilty about what you eat is one thing, but guiltless drinking is so much more validating. You’ll be sipping over 160 bottles of wine and over 25 by the glass that have all been lovingly selected by importer and author, Evan Spingarn (superstar in the wine world, FYI). The wine trios are a fabulous way to try his selections (three’s a charm!) and feel oh-so-Euro sipping in the cellar-inspired stone corners of uptown. It was only a matter of time before wineries picked up on that whole green trend, but the question remains…is going biodynamic really a cure for a wine hangover?
