This watering hole on the Bushwick/East Williamsburg border should satisfy the newly settled ‘hood hipsters who have been outpriced from their Billyburg haven. Located on a block that’s lacking in imbibing options, The Tradesman fulfills the requisites of a great nabe joint: cheap craft beers on tap ($5 Coney Island Lager, $4 Narragansett), plentiful o’ liquor, a generous happy hour ($4 drafts, $5 house drinks & $3 cans from 4-9pm) and a 1,500 square-ft. backyard for summer, perfect for smoking those hand-rolled “cigarettes.” The decor—wooden stamped table tops, exposed brick and a peppering of “tradesman” accoutrements hanging from the walls—are indicative of the blue collar theme. A bit of welcome wear and tear from local clientele should help it lose the shine of obvious newness and score the authentic rustic vibe this place is striving for.
