Thistle Hill Tavern: It seems like all of Manhattan’s “big” names are rushing to one of Brooklyn’s most tranquil neighborhoods, Park Slope, and causing quite a stir while they're at it. First, the owner of CakeShop opened Double Windsor, and now, just down the street, Thistle Hill Tavern opens with a long list of headliners. Not just restaurant stars either (granted, basically the whole staff of Inoteca LES is involved)—Niagara’s drink whiz tends Thistle’s bar, and even Fat Mike from NOFX has joined the bandwagon. Fortunately, if any of us remember Fat Mike’s alter ego, “Cokie the Clown” dealing with “urine-flavored-tequila” allegations in Austin, TX, Fat Mike doesn’t seem to be too involved in concocting cocktails! Splurge for the bar’s namesake drink, a delicious blend of Famous Grouse, Carpano Antico and Lee Bros orange bitters ($10) or dive into their stellar beer selection ($5 for everything on tap). For now, it seems that Inoteca's teaming up with a rougher crowd yields a perfect neighborhood bar for Park Slope. Finally, grown ups no longer have to be afraid to get caught “Punk in Drublic!” |
