Travertine:
At last, Italian food without the Italian clichés (save for the name; Travertine is the marble used in the Colosseum). With a menu crafted by owner Danae Cappelletto, they're cooking up fare that's worth writing Rome about. Try the hand-rolled garganelli with shiitake mushrooms; we're sure you'll leave no scrap of macaroni behind. Other delicious dishes include sautéed skate with parnsip puree and the beef carpaccio with bone marrow aioli. If it sounds fancy, take a look at the décor. The ambience seems more suited to trend-seeking food novices and—dare we say it—out of town (think: The Lawrence of Arabia meets Morticia Addams set). So, the set-up doesn't really spell out serious dining, nor does it prepare you for what's on its way out of the kitchen. But who cares? Cappelletto may have come here via Australia, but she obviously spent her life eating like a Roman.
Couldn't agree more, the food is amazing and the music, big bar and opulent decor make it feel like a night out in Rome or something haha. Goodlooking crowd.
