Tresanti: If you know anything about New York, you know we take our pizza seriously. From canned mushrooms to shaved truffle, every spot has its own take on what constitutes the perfect slice, and now Tresanti in SoHo is putting in its two cents. More trattoria than pizzeria, Tresanti is serving up thin crust pies with homemade mozzarella ($12-$19) in a space undoubtedly more elegant than the corner joint slinging your weekend 3am slices. For starters, the tables are covered in cloth, soft yellow and red recessed lights accent the wood-adorned room, and jazz is the background music to every conversation. On nights when all you want is a glass of vino at the bar, you might bypass dishes like Truffle Gnocchi ($18), Braised Rabbit ($21), and Vongole pizza topped with clams and pancetta ($17), but you can still admire the wood-burning brick oven perched above the sunken dining room. After all, this is where Tresanti is making its version of the perfect pie—show some respect.
