Two E: It's one thing to mix and mingle with financiers, but another to spend your evening sitting in the lobby of a bank. While that’s not literally the case at Two E—an ultra posh bar in Central Park’s Pierre Hotel—it may be close enough to make you attempt to withdraw cash from the bartender for a cab downtown. Unless, of course, you're really, really into gray: gray walls, gray suits, gray hair. Even the signature cocktails, like the White Lady (Tanqueray, Cointreau and lemon juice), aren’t exactly colorful. After sauntering past the lush private reception room of the Pierre, with its crystal chandeliers, frescoed walls and gold leaf trim, this is an especially disappointing experience. Still, the purely-utilitarian lounge—which, fittingly, used to be the hotel’s executive offices—caters to the sort who can drop upwards of 900 bucks on a hotel room. So maybe you can find a little color here after all…green. |
