Ugly Kitchen: Assuming the owners were just being cheeky when they named the place, one might expect the food to actually be good at Ugly Kitchen. However, when tough steak is masquerading as short rib, and the mango/wasabi mayo is nothing more than orange-colored sour cream, well, it ain’t pretty. The menu at Ugly Kitchen is confusingly Spanish/American/Italian/Asian as evidenced by a tapas section touting Short Rib Rolls ($7) and entrees like Chorizo Amatriciana ($14), but the drinks skew mostly Asian. Try the Green Tea Martini (green tea matcha, soju and vodka, $10) or the Pear Hi (soju, pear juice and vodka, $10) and toast to the fact that at least the bar is doing something right. And since a bottle of Kirin Light will only set you back $5, and all cocktails are $6 during the as-yet-unspecified happy hour, you can easily drink until Ugly Kitchen is lovely.
