The tastefully decorated space (think: exposed brick and pristine white table-settings) serves up contemporary Mediterranean cuisine with global influences. While dining by candlelight can seem a little contrived and old-fashioned, if those candles are in hanging, hand-blown glass fixtures and wall sconces, we’re talking major class! With the food and wine menus changing weekly, even the pickiest palate will find something pleasing. Don't like change, you say? Not to worry—some scrumptious staples like the Hamachi and Yellowfin Tuna Duo ($15) will be around for years to come. If you’re flying solo, get cozy at the bar and order a Jean Georges ($14), a cosmo featuring fresh watermelon. If it's something a bit more structured you're after, Vai offers a 3-Course Meal with paired wines for $39 on Mondays. Vincent Chirico, the owner, executive chef and everything in between, wears many hats and cuts a fine figure while doing so.
