Here's a novel way to separate yourself from the B&T masses that populate 7th Avenue South: twigs. So far it seems to be working at Veranda, as the new lounge lays on the bramble big-time, with twig-covered pillars, twisted twig arrangements in oversized cisterns, and twig clusters at the bar. Even the walls are covered with hacked lumber for that fresh from the forest feel. The bar however, was not intended for Hansel and Gretel; instead you can expect to find it inhabited by serious late-nighters taking advantage of the sprawling, dimly-lit space, and the DJs cranking out tunes 'til the wee hours. The menu features urban Mediterranean fare, and we haven't even gotten to the big draw here: The back room is hookah central, so this place proves to be a good spot for the orally fixated. And while there will be plenty of outdoor sidewalk seating in the summer, the ultimate irony may just be that Veranda...has no veranda.They should have named it Twiggy.
