Veritas has a wine list with 6.2 million wines. Well, 2,700, actually, but the list is so thick that during the next blackout, you can burn it for kindling and stay warm for a month. This is a reservations-essential restaurant (and a fancy one at that—a prix fixe dinner runs $68), but walk-in guests are free to claim one of about 6 seats at the bar to sample the wines and the accompanying New American food. The seats are coveted, so prepare to wait. A small, rotating list of wines by the glass ranges from the Schafer Frohlich Riesling ($10) to a Rubicon Cabernet Sauvignon ($19). Happily, expansiveness doesn’t mean expense—there are plenty of bottles around $20 for the aspiring snob.
Dont let the extensive menu scare you away. Just like the menu, the staff is equally impressive. Veritas wont leave you guessing. Their knowledgable staff helped my husband and me find the perfect bottle for our tastebuds and wallet! It was the perfect place for a long over due date night.
