Viktor & Spoils: Even if you don't bump into Ryan Phillipe, you'll still have plenty of things to whisper about at this swanky underground liquor den. Namely, the insane selection of impeccably mixed mescal bevs; we recommend starting your night with one of their signature cocteles, The Oaxacan Dream (Vida Mezcal, pineapple juice, cranberry, lime, agave and grilled pineapple to garnish, $14), which washes down perfectly with decadent beer braised short rib tacos ($16). Just as you take your last swill, the dining area gives way to a makeshift dance floor for mingling with a crowd of industry folks, surprisingly upbeat locals and the occasional "I’m-here-cuz-I-read-about-this-on-a-hip-food-blog" type. At this point, shift your imbibing favor to a Viktor's Crush (Kappa Pisco, fresh lemons and green grapes, $14) to avoid a crushing mezcal-infused hangover the next day. Or, try one of their many delicious, booze-free sangrita offerings and treat your body like a temple in Oaxaca (after all, the bar's name was decided when the owner visited the area and stumbled upon a farm owner named Viktor and his charming dog Spoils). Bottom line: For R&R with a seriously skilled barkeep, go to Viktor & Spoils—quick—before everyone reads about it on the interwebz and the line begins coiling around the block.
