Village Lantern: Not to be confused with the myriad other places using the word “village” in their names (Tavern, Vanguard, Karaoke…), Village Lantern boasts a cozy atmosphere with live bands, DJs, and comedians filling the roster nightly. The acts are rarely name-brand, but on the off-chance that one of these guys makes it big, you have the right to annoy your friends with your “I–knew-them-back-in-the-day” comments. A downstairs space offers an alternative to the upstairs shenanigans, and there’s a full Italian menu and reasonably priced drinks. Sound schizophrenic? It certainly is. Village Lantern can’t decide if it wants to cater to foodies, bar hounds, or club-hoppers, so it does all three. It’s one-stop shopping for your night out, if you’re into the whole “go-to-one-place-and-never-leave” sort of thing. |
