There's no shortage of loud, busy bars on Stone Street...which is why those who venture through the purposefully low-key entrance of Vintry are in for a surprise: a serene scene that is dark, upscale and cool. If you like the sophisticated liquor-obsessed vibe of Tribeca’s Brandy Library—but find the crowd a little past their prime—you might be ready for a Vintry blast. First off, we dig any place where the food menu is nothing but a small card that slips into the back of a much bigger cocktail menu...let lobster stuffed mushrooms ($14) or veal meatballs ($8) accompany that classic Whisky Sour ($10) or very sweet Sazerac ($12). Or choose a bottle of wine from behind the sleek glass that lines the back wall.
