Vue Restaurant and Lounge: Pricey, unoriginal cocktails and austere décor—did you accidentally stumble into the Meatpacking District? Nope, you’re in Park Slope, at the Vue Restaurant and Lounge, perched on the rooftop of the out-of-place boutique, Hotel le Bleu. Vue is the sort of place that would fit better alongside the Gansevoort. After all, the minimal blue, white and granite design elements only exaggerate the Vue’s dissonance from the neighborhood’s quaint brownstones and local dives. However, it’s quickly becoming something of a destination for foodies, thanks to chef Chris Cheung (Monkey Bar, China 1) and his menu of delectable—and reasonably-priced—diversions from American cuisine. Each table offers warm bread with squash butter, as well as glimpses of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Make sure you go on a clear day, though; otherwise your “vue” will be limited to local auto shops.
