Warren 77:
Opening a trendy sports bar in Robert De Niro's Tribeca might be akin to opening a Burger King next to a gym. However, Warren 77 answers this areas’ long overdue need for a friendly sports bar. Co-owned by hockey player Sean Avery and Matt Abramcyk (Smith & Mills, Beatrice Inn), the bar reflects their personalities with a combination of Tribeca trendy and Hockey rustic décor. Once inside, try not to be put off by Warren 77's prices and fashionable darkness. Stiff drinks and solidly made, well conceived bar food will keep locals coming back. All things considered, if you live or work in the area and want to catch “the big game,” Warren 77 is the place to go.
Went on a Sunday early evening with two others while there were no sports going on except some non-local NFL games, so it was pretty empty which worked out great for us because its not a huge place. We just went for drinks and appys, I'd have to say the wings, nachos and Molston Canadian beer was great. Being big NY hockey fans, we wanted to check it out. Liked the sports feel, 'rustic' pretty much explains it, like, hmm is the furniture sort of worn out and they say that to make it sound more trendy or is it done on purpose? lol. It was cool though and finding it was interesting, kind of a discreet storefront. After that we hit Times Square to go to the NHL store and ESPN zone...theme here? I'd go back (as long as it's not crowded)!
