Wechsler’s:
Are you craving a sausage party (alright, don't answer that in the figurative sense) but don’t feel like trekking all the way to Zum Schneider on Avenue C? Now you have an alternative for your East Village meat fix. This cash-only brick cubbyhole is the latest entry into the "smallest bar in New York" contest. (There’s all of two tables and a handful of barstools). Take-out customers waiting for their house-special currywurst and turkey-cranberry or chicken-apricot wieners can’t avoid mingling with drinkers sipping on one of the four German brews on tap (maybe it is a sausage party after all). Resistance is futile for drunk carnivores, with the sizzling aroma rising from the grill directly behind the bar, but beware: All that sausage consumption in such a tight space might send you home smelling like, well, sausage. Hopefully you'll be too beer-goggled to care by the time you're stuffing ones into the tip jar marked "Danke!" Opened in mid-February.
