West End Bar & Grill: The name may be an homage to London’s Theater District, but West End is still all-American, with deep mahogany wood finishes, mood lighting, and a mix of after-work suits and pre-theater-going out-of-towners. Very reasonably priced for the neighborhood, beers both on draft or bottle all cost about $6, while adventurous types will be pleased to find the Bee Sting (Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Bärenjäger and salted honey rim, $8). But why stick to beer concoctions when West End boasts one of the more impressive bar and grill cocktail lists around? Try the Berry Bramble (Ketel One, strawberries, mint, simple syrup and cookied rim—yes, you read that right, they crumble cookies—$12) to go with your Pat LaFrieda (of Shake Shack fame) burger and fries (only $10!). When you’re stuck in Midtown West, West End will prove a graceful transition between touring 30 Rock and catching Spiderman on Broadway. Who knows, knock back enough cocktails and you might even enjoy the show as much as the pre-party….
