Westside Tavern boasts exactly what the name suggests—a quintessential tavern on the West Side. What it isn’t is your typical Irish pub with bartenders spilling genuine brogues. Though nestled in the heart of Chelsea, the venue proves to be a low-maintenance pick-up spot for any gender preference, a chill place to hang with friends, or a one-stop shop for a quick beer after work. The Tavern is equipped with all first-date essentials: draft beer and Jäger bombs, a pool table, an interactive jukebox, and a quieter atmosphere earlier in the week. While they don’t serve food, you can bring in your own any night you want. Be sure to inquire about the Tavern’s soccer team if you’re looking to score.
I have been going to this place for years, and like a fine wine, it only gets better with age. I always bring my brother and his friends when he comes in town to visit. With a laid back vibe and quite a few beers on tap, this is my favorite place to go to quench my late afternoon thirst. Even though its a bit out of the way now that I have moved uptown, I have been hard pressed to find a local joint that beats this place, and thats why I keep coming back.
