White Horse Tavern:
This isn’t the White Horse of legend where Dylan Thomas drank himself to death. This one’s for the financial sector that’s more likely to be killed with boredom. The long wooden bar is packed with broker types who are out in spades at lunchtime and after work. Sure, you can drink here, but this is no one-trick pony. Burgers and other bar foods fill the menu, along with daily specials along the lines of steak, chicken dishes, and even Hungarian goulash. The place probably works best in the summertime—a long list of frozen drinks is available and it’s unlikely that great poets come for melon balls and margaritas. Tourists and traders are a different story.
I believe the White Horse Tavern where Dylan Thomas drank was the one on Hudson Street in the West Village, not the downtown one.

Blofeld says:
That review is not accurate
It's not full of "broker types." 20-something capitalists do come here for some self-conscious "slumming" but it's mostly "regular" people, espec. after the post-work crowd thins out. It's a good place.
